a gigantic post

Warning you now, I have a ton of photos today.

Going to start with probably the least interesting thing. Sims screencaps. And they’re not even screencaps. I literally just took photos of my monitor, because I’m lazy.
It never fails that anytime I’m in the final crunch of finishing stuff before a deadline, my brain is like, “Ok, let’s play the Sims now.” I started up a new game this weekend and mostly just played while eating lunch/dinner. (I wanted to do a Survivor game for GoT characters while watching the finale last night and Chase wouldn’t let me.)

I made a Star Wars family and GEEZ. Ok first the sort of sci-fi gear jumpsuit I like to put people in has disappeared?? WTF. I found a pre-made Han in the community gallery that had it, so I downloaded that, so I at least have that outfit back, but can’t find the original girl version šŸ™ What happened to it? It wasn’t custom content or anything.

Anyway Sims 4 has Star Wars outfits now but I didn’t want them wearing straight up “standard” outfits — so Leia’s ANH dress is her formal wear. I made this be her everyday wear:

I thought that was pretty cute.

Luke is an astronaut (I cheated to get him there. Cheated to get Leia to be a political leader too. Ain’t nobody got time to actually do that the normal way.) He wears his suit around the houe constantly.

OK good grief I have to go into my saga of trying to get people to have the RIGHT KIDS. I wanted Han and Leia to have a baby boy that could be Ben/Kylo Ren, obviously. I added a Mara to the game and was just going to have her and Luke have a baby girl to be Rey – even though who knows whose kid she is, it was just the simplest thing to do.

There’s toddler Ben. Ok so I saved right before I sent Leia to the hospital to have the baby — so that if she came home with a girl I could just restart, and try again for a boy. Well I guess that trick doesn’t work anymore because I restarted like 6-7 times and it was a girl every single time. So then I just figured I’ll start again… I tried to delete the baby and even with cheats I couldn’t delete the baby!! WTF.

So I had testingcheats on and shift-clicked on the baby… and there was one option that was blank. I clicked on it and that made the Social Worker take the baby away. Ok, well that works, I guess. Then I had to get rid of all the negative moodlets the family had because the baby got “repossessed.”

(Han is a 10 in handiness and doesn’t have a job because he’s basically doing nothing but fixing stuff all day long.)

So I tried again and read some stuff online that said listen to alternative music on the radio for a boy. So I had Leia listen to alternative music for days straight. Aaaand this time she did have a boy. Whew.

(Ben aged up to a kid last night, here he is eating his whole birthday cake)

Ok so then I wanted Luke and Mara to have a girl, right? I read have them listen to pop music for a girl. So Mara listened to pop music non-stop. And then…. TWIN BOYS. WTF.
I ended up aging one baby up to toddler so I could edit it in CAS and turn it into a girl. The other one I aged up to adult, went into manage worlds, and deleted him. What a rigamarole.

Toddler Rey

Mara died from being enraged. I couldn’t find Luke at one point and found him and Rey outside crying at her grave. OMG that’s traumatic.

Also my Luke sim is not great. He looks SUPER creepy all the time.

NO

I think when Rey ages up to a kid he’s going to have to grow his beard.

Ok so that’s it for Sims. On to REN FAIRE!
Saturday we got up at 8 and I got into Sarah, we picked Kevin up and headed out to Millington. We planned to stay a couple of hours and then head on out before it got too hot, since Chase still had work to do on his scooter.

I slathered myself in sunscreen because I was NOT going to get a weird sunburn from Sarah’s sleeves the week before Dcon.

Chase and Kevin played tug of war:

Kevin had more fun pretending to be pulled over than actually playing the game.
We had a peach fried pie and watched a magic show.

Ok so remember in an earlier post I said that the sole of my Sarah boot had come off? And I glued it back on. I still took back up boots just in case. All the way at the far end of the faire…. the OTHER boot’s sole came off. Kevin and I went ahead and got our seats in the joust bleachers while Chase took the bad boots to the car and got my back-up boots.

Me and Kevin front and center:

Joust was a lot of fun. Kevin LOVED it.

Then we shopped around a bit and headed out around noon.

Kevin met the Mad Hatter on our way out.

I ripped my wig off as soon as we got in the car. It never got TERRIBLY hot while we were out there but that wig man.
One more selfie with Kevin. Post-wig-hair and all.

Saturday night I finished up Mon Mothma’s necklace.

It’s a little rough in spots but overall I’m happy with it.

Sunday we had to run a couple of errands, and we ended up at the Hobby Store I love.
I’m not going to post ALL the gazillion pics I took of interesting stuff but here’s a few highlights.

They had this massive pile of Star Trek stuff up front this time.

I wanted this…

And this.

Super cool metal Lionel train station. I wanted it. Even though I don’t have model trains. Something about this reminded me of some toy I played with when I was little… it wasn’t something I owned, it was either something at school or somebody else’s house… I dunno what it was. But it was pinging that nostalgia.

I had this Storm action figure. In fact I had two of them because they re-released her with her shorter hair cut. I liked the big giant chunk of plastic hair version best though.

Wanted this too.

That afternoon I went to sew my new Rebel patch onto my TARDIS purse…… and couldn’t find my TARDIS purse ANYWHERE. Super weird. So what they hey I made a new bag.

My plan was to use some black cotton scraps as the “back” panels and put the patch on that. And then strap fabric/front panel fabric would be some of the Star Wars fabric out of my stash.

These were my fabric options. I asked around and the consensus was the blueprint fabric or Rey. Mom said Rey so I went with that.

It was a quick little project. I built in 2 pockets (one sized for my phone). It could’ve used some interfacing but yeah nah ain’t nobody got time for that.

This is the front side.

And this is the back side. I put the patch on the flap closure. Underneath the flap is a pocket of the Rey fabric for my phone.

Then since Chase wouldn’t let me play GOT Survivor on Sims 4 during the finale, I drew Daenerys instead.

And here’s a Dolores from a few weeks ago I don’t think I ever took a photo of.

Tonight I’m going to repack (take Disgust out of my bin, and I got a space bag for Trillian), and finish up Lucy. Just gotta trim one piece of the hooping, sew the edge of the headpiece closed and sew on a couple more pearls. Then I’m 100% done.

Yay. Still got 3 and 3/4 days of work to go though. Work Thursday is going to suuuuuuuck but having Tuesday post-Dragoncon will be better…
